National Safety Council – Defensive Driving 4 - Hour Instructor Development Course

DDC 4, an instructor-led classroom course, re-educates numerous key fundamental driving skills and motivates drivers to change their behind-the-wheel behaviors and attitudes.   It will give participants the basic understanding, skills and techniques to avoid collisions and reduce future violations. Vital content on distracted driving and other trending safety issues are addressed. Available in English and Spanish.

Only NSC DDC 4 certified instructors affiliated with an authorized DDC Training Center may teach DDC 4 (DDC 8/6, DDC Professional Truck Driver and Alive at 25 Instructor Courses Available)

About the Instructor Course

The National Safety Council trains instructors to teach DDC 4 through our 2-day Instructor Course.

During the Instructor Course you’ll gain the confidence and knowledge to become an effective instructor. This course provides both the technical information you will need to teach DDC 4 as well as effective facilitation methods and presentation techniques. Our instructor trainers will show candidate instructors how to determine the needs of the audience, improve classroom participation and interaction, handle objections, and use activities effectively.

• Thorough coverage of DDC 4course content and instructional materials
• Major DDC concepts and strategies
• Characteristics and traits of an effective DDC instructor
• DDC teaching skills and facilitation methods to increase student involvement and motivation
• Specific learner needs and techniques for managing difficult course participants
• Deliver a practice presentation for candidate instructor feedback and instructor trainer evaluation

Generally, your registration fee includes the Instructor Certification Package. Additional teaching materials are required and must be purchased separately through the Administering Office.
